💧 Care Guide

☀️ Light
Provide bright, indirect light for the best growth and leaf development. A few hours of gentle morning sun can be beneficial, but protect the plant from intense direct afternoon sunlight, which can burn the leaves.

💦 Watering
Alocasia Dragon Tooth prefers a consistently lightly moist growing medium while actively growing. Water when the upper portion of the mix begins to dry, then allow excess water to drain away.

Don’t let the plant sit in standing water. At the same time, avoid allowing the root system to completely dry out for extended periods during active growth.

🌫️ Humidity
Higher humidity will help your Dragon Tooth produce larger, healthier foliage. Aim for 60% or higher, with 70%+ being excellent.

Good airflow is especially important when growing Alocasias in high-humidity environments.

🌡️ Temperature
Keep your Dragon Tooth warm and away from cold drafts. Ideally, maintain temperatures between 65–85°F and avoid sudden temperature changes.

🪴 Potting Mix
Use a loose, chunky, well-draining mix that provides both moisture retention and plenty of oxygen around the roots. A combination of coco coir or peat, orchid bark, perlite/pumice, and other chunky amendments works well.

🌿 Fertilizing
During active growth, feed with a balanced fertilizer diluted to approximately ¼–½ strength every few weeks. Alocasias are heavy feeders when they’re actively growing, but avoid fertilizing a plant that is stressed or freshly shipped.

💤 A Note About Alocasias

Alocasias can occasionally slow down or enter a period of dormancy when conditions become cooler, darker, or otherwise stressful. Don’t be alarmed if growth temporarily slows or an older leaf yellows.

Keep the plant warm, provide adequate light, and adjust watering to match how quickly the potting mix is drying.

📦 When Your Plant Arrives

Your Dragon Tooth has just traveled, so give it a little time to settle into its new home!

  • Carefully unpack your plant and inspect it.
  • Place it in a warm location with bright, indirect light.
  • Maintain good humidity and airflow.
  • Check the moisture level before watering.
  • Allow the plant to acclimate before repotting or making major changes.

Some minor cosmetic damage, drooping, or yellowing can occur after shipping and acclimation. New growth is the best indicator that your plant is settling in.
